Girls have to pull their finger out at valentines too. Don’t bow to these stereotypes of males sorting out the day and gifts! Of course we have a follow up to our Valentines For Her video, which you should check out if you haven’t seen it. Valentines for Him is a few new valentines ideas for your loved one. Gifts and ideas are interchangeable and are not gender specific, it’s merely a personal representation of how mine and Dillon’s valentines are likely to pan out… I’d like to know if yours is similar.

Naturally for a food blogger and food lover, my valentines gifts and ideas are all edible. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Valentines is about pretty, indulgent food. With our Chocolate Filled Brownie Balls & Irish Cream Hot Chocolate, I don’t think we have disappointed. These are perfect conclusions to your valentines meal and evening.  With your pre-prepared brownies, you can ensure a stress free dessert you don’t have to worry if it’s actually going to rise in the oven or taste any good, since it’s raw!
Follow that up with a cute movie might with Irish Cream hot chocolates and god damn don’t you look like the prefect partner.

So these brownie balls. They might look terribly bad for you, but if you know anything about raw food, then you will know they are definitely not. These bad boys are oil free and only made from wholesome ingredients. The balls are made of GF oats, coconut, almonds and dates. The chocolate filling and topping made from avocado, brown rice syrup, cacao, peanut butter & almond milk. So don’t feel guilty about eating these giant brownie balls; they’re full of plant-based protein & goodness.

What I love about raw is that it’s almost impossible to get wrong. Doesn’t taste right? Doesn’t bind properly? Adjust it. That simple. None of that with baking where you have to bite the bullet and stick it in the oven and cross your fingers. There was a lot of that when I started to explore gluten-free, vegan baking.. oh dear.

As for the “Bailey’s” hot chocolate, we used a fabulous vegan brand, Besos De Oro. This is an excellent vegan substitute for Irish cream made from tiger nuts. Follow the simple recipe in the video our smooth, rich and boozy hot choccy.

  • ¼ cup Brown Rice Syrup
  • ¼ cup Cacao Powder
  • ⅛ - ¼ cup Almond Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Nut Butter (we used peanut)
  • pinch of salt
Instructions
For the Brownies
  1. Firstly soak your dates overnight or at least 30 minutes with hot water.
  2. Place the oats, coconut almonds & cacao in a food processor and blend into a fine grain.
  3. Drain your dates and add to the food processor and pulse into a dough. Add ¼ cup of water if the dough needs help coming together.
  4. Reserving ⅛ cup of dough. Roll the rest into 4 large equal balls or 6/7 smaller balls. Press your thumb into the balls and hollow out the brownie balls.
For The Filling
  1. Place all the ingredients into a food processor (starting with ⅛ cup almond milk) and blend into a thick mousse texture. Add the rest of the milk if you want it thinner.
  2. Scoop the filling into a piping bag with a thin star nozzle.
  3. Squeeze the filling into each ball until it nearly reaches the top on the hole. Set the piping bag aside.
  4. With our remaining ⅛ cup brownie dough, mould small lids to fit the holes. Close the hole by carefully moulding the doughs together.
  5. Pipe the remainder of the filling on top as desired.
  6. Munch!
